Our son surprised us with "I've asked Tonya to marry me" one sunny morning in May 1992.
So began all the wedding preparations. They picked their date, their attendants (Mike's dad for his best man, his uncle Chris, her brother Alan as ushers, Tonya's sister's Stacy as her maid of honor, Lindsay as her bridesmaid along with her best friend Pam), her church.
We shopped, attended the bridal showers, what fun we had. I planned the rehearsal dinner. We had it at our church, our relatives (Mike's grandmother Madeline, great aunt Thelma, aunt's Jill & Jan doing the cooking while church members served everyone. We had a blast.
Finally the wedding day was here,Tonya was radiant and Mike was handsome as ever. During the ceremony the brides mother and I lit the candles representing each family with Mike and Tonya lighting the Unity candle. After lighting the Unity candle Mike blew his candle out, while Tonya was so nervous she couldn't quite get her out, she kept blowing it but it didn't cooperate. Everyone started laughing. She told me later she was so embarrassed. It was a lovely wedding.
