If it’s ok, I’d like to relate my cousin’s wedding story from this past May (2007). If it’s not ok, please let me know.

Beth & Matt had been engaged before and called off the wedding and broke up. Both wanted some sign that they were doing the right thing. Of course, we knew the odds of that happening. So when they decided to get married again, both families were a little leery that the wedding would actually happen.

They’d decided to get married at a lighthouse on the beach on Cape Cod--a beautiful setting. The ocean had played a big part in Beth’s life. Her most joyful memories were from time spent at the shore.

Unfortunately, it rained the whole weekend. On their wedding day, there were showers on and off. They were understandably disappointed, thinking that her dream of the beach wedding wasn’t going to happen. About 10 minutes before the ceremony, when it hadn’t rained in about 4 hours, the couple decided the ceremony would, indeed, happen on the beach.

All of the guests were seated. The pastor, groom and groomsmen came to the beach and the drops started falling. The wedding march played as we all sat there getting wet. The bride and her father came down the aisle, her gorgeous gown being ruined with each raindrop.

The pastor asked if there was anyone who objected, and of course there was silence. The pastor started leading them in their vows, and the sun came out, while it was still raining. There was an audible gasp from some of the guests and everyone turned.

A double rainbow (one inside the other) with both ends visible had appeared over the ocean. They took that as the sign they were both looking for.
