The oddest wedding I ever attended was planned for a Saturday in the great outdoors, a true pasture wedding by a farm pond with the reception in the garage! The bride and groom were to be on horseback. Guests were bringing their own chairs. Well, this was one of the, if anything can go wrong, weddings. First, it rained! So a big tent was erected on the driveway facing the garage. The reception was set up in the garage and all of the people seated there. The brides horse was tranquilized so that the dress would not be to traumatic. Everything was in place. The grooms man leading the grooms horse, the maid of honor holding the brides horse. But alias, no minister! Frantic calls went out. He was on interstate, lost! More directions were given. Now the wedding is an hour late. The guests were snitching at the food set up for the reception!

The minister finally showed up, slightly inebriated! Two hours late the bride and groom were lead under the tent, well almost, the tranquilizer had worn off and the brides horse was traumatized by the wind fluttering the tent and the dress. There was almost a “runaway bride” before the second grooms man got a hold on the brides horse. Vows were finally exchanged and what was left of the reception food served.
